Kamakura’s Tenen Hiking Trail Private Tour | 1500 yen per person

If you visit Kamakura we recommend hiking the course called the Kamakura Alps.
You can enjoy a mysterious trail, a historic temple and a spectacular view of the sea and the mountain at the same time.

Hike to Kamakura’s Tenen Hiking Trail

Gate of Kenchoji temple
Gate of Kenchoji temple | It was founded in 1253 in the Kamakura period, and the main shrine is Jizo Bodhisattva.

Tenen Hiking Trail is a trailhead with Kenchouji-temple with a majestic atmosphere.
A course with a total distance of about 7 km is a well-maintained mountain road and you can enjoy the beautiful view of Sagami Bay in places.
With a moderate up / down hiking course, there are few steep slopes peculiar to the Japanese mountain.
Therefore, climbing shoes dedicated to hiking are not necessary, sneakers are enough.

From Hanzoubou View
The Ten-en hiking course is also called the Kamakura Alps and is a full-fledged recommended hiking course about 4 km in length around the outer circumference of northern Kamakura.

Also, if it is not midwinter you may be able to see lots of lovely squirrels.
At the end of the trail there is the Zuisenji temple, and a stunning Japanese garden awaits you.
After hiking, there are plenty of sightseeing spots, temples and beaches in Kamakura.
You can have a wonderful and fulfilling holiday.

Tenen Hiking trail
The mossy rock blocks the road. There is also the theory that it was a defensive barrier to prevent the enemy from invading Kamakura once.

We saw the sunrise at mt.Fuji from yoshida route (2018/08/28)

Mt.fuji 7goume

ACCESS TO MT.FUJI:

Access to the mountain climbing route of Mt. Fuji used a bus terminal “Busta Shinjuku” located at JR Shinjuku station.
From Shinjuku Express Bus Terminal “Basta Shinjuku 4th Floor” to “Mt. Fuji’s fifth station” it usually takes 2 hours 40 minutes.
However, the day we visited it took 3 hours 30 minutes due to traffic congestion.
Reservation is possible from one month in advance. Because it is a very popular means of transportation, I recommend making an early reservation.
The period during which you can climb Mt.Fuji from this course is from July 1st to September 10th.

Click here for Basta Shinjuku’s HP

OVERVIEW OF MT.FUJI HIKING:

Mt.Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan with an altitude of 3776.24 m.
Because of high altitude sudden strong wind and rain may hinder walking, sufficient equipment, food and rest are necessary.
We stayed at mountain hut to do our best.
Even though we stay, we need to eat at 6 pm to see the sunrise, sleep at 7 pm and wake up at 10:30 pm.
By temporarily resting we were able to secure physical strength to climb the mountain road all night.

Click here for the mountain hut we stayed in

I left the mountain hut of the night at 11 o’clock, continued walking for about 6 hours 30 minutes and reached the summit of the mountain.
The morning sun we saw from the summit was the best, but on the other hand it was cold anyway.
If you go, we strongly recommend you to have enough warm clothes.
Also mountain hut is very popular so we recommend you to reserve it from about 2 months ago.

From JR · Keio Corporation Takao Station North Exit, we will arrive at “Bus bound for Kobotoke | 小仏” bus in about 20 minutes (230 yen) for “Kobotoke bus station | 小仏バス停”.

Click here for the bus timetable

HIKING OVERVIEW:

On July 14, 2018 we went hiking to eat “shaved ice” on the top of the mountain.
The shaved ice that I eat at the summit while watching the spectacular view from the mountain was the best!
This hiking course starts the Kobotoke bus stop, passes through the Kobotoke Pass, and is a trail of 8.8 km in length which goes to Takaosanguchi station via Mt. Kobotokeshiroyama.

At Mt.Kobotokeshiroyama’s “Harumi tea house” we ate a popular shaved ice, and at the end we relaxed at the Takaosanguchi station at the hot spring adjacent to Keio Corporation.
Mt.Takao is known as a mountain of faith from the Edo period, and mountain faith Yakuouin hall is dotted in the mountain 600 meters above sea level and forms a mysterious atmosphere.

Mt.Takao was selected as a three star tourist destination together with Mt.Fuji at Mt.Takao in Michelin in France in the Japanese version travel guide book in 2009.
Therefore, it became a very popular hiking course, and it was very crowded on the day.
For that reason, we chose “No.6 Road” instead of “No.1 Road” from the summit of Mt.Takao.
