2018年11月2日に富士の樹海にトレイルランニングに出かけた際に、樹海の森の中でお城の城壁のような石垣を発見しました。
後ほど調べたところ天文年間(1532年～1555年)の甲斐・本栖城の遺跡のようです。
甲斐の国は現在の山梨県に相当する地域で、当時甲斐国境に近い本栖には中道街道があり、それを守る要衝として本栖城があったようです。
約400年以上前の城跡と思うとロマンを感じます。
