Dam Discharge at Lake Miyagase in Kanagawa Prefecture

I saw a dam release at Miyagase Lake

I have been visiting a limited time dam release in Miyagase Lake in Kanagawa Prefecture.
The spectacle of 30 m 3 of water falling per second was very powerful.
Dam release is open to the public and it is possible for anyone to see it for a limited time.
However, although it is understood this time, it is difficult to understand access by bus, so it is necessary to be careful.
Since it is only 6 minutes to discharge the dam, you can not see it by mistaking the bus time.

Dam release date

January – March, December pause
April – November every Wednesday, 2nd Sunday of the month, 2nd 4th Friday of the month
Other irregular days (event release)

Implementation time

11: 00 ~ 11: 06 (6 minutes)
2: 00 ~ 2: 06 (6 minutes)

How to get to Miyagase Dam

Get off at Odakyu Hon – Atsugi station and go to the bus stop in the north entrance.
There are several bus stops but let’s look for the signs for the photos below.

Let 's look for Kanji' 半原・上萩野 '.
Let ‘s look for Kanji’ 半原・上萩野 ‘.

Let’s look for kanji written as “半原” in the picture above.
Get on the bus at “Aikawa-Ohashi” by Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu bus “Take to center via Hanbara 半原”.
It is about 15 minutes on foot to the dam.
There is no sign of “Miyagase” anywhere on the bus signs or on the bus, it is very unfriendly and unkind, so let’s ask in Japanese to the driver as below before you get on the bus.
“Aikawa-Ohashi ni ikimasuka?”
The meaning of this Japanese is “Is this bus going to Aikawa-Oohashi?”

The way from the bus stop to the dam

The way from the bus stop to the dam
When I get off the bus at Aikawa-Ohashi bus stop, I will head to the dam via Aikawa Park.
The road was also a bit confusing, so I will place Google Map below.
It is necessary to go through the facilities of the park once.

Dam curry is recommended after the tour

You can go up the dam with an elevator or a charged lift when the dam’s visit is over.
Dam curry can be eaten at the lake side cafe on the first floor of the “Water and Energy Hall 水とエネルギー館” above the dam.
This is a curry which imaged the discharge of the dam, and it is structured so that curry flows in if you pull out the sausage set on the rice.
It is very unique and fun.
You can also enjoy the Miyagase Lake tour with a pleasure boat after the meal ends, this lake is famous for its beautiful autumnal leaves.

Imperial Palace Jogging / Running Course Guide & Road Map

Outline of the Imperial Palace running

Imperial Palace Running

The length of the Imperial Palace Running / Jogging Course is about 5 km and the height difference is 26 m.
You can run counterclockwise, it is a flat course from Sakurada Gate to Takebashi, from Takebashi to Chidorigafuchi-park is an uphill. It is an almost flat course from Chidorigafuchi-park to Hanzoumon.
And downhill course from Hanzoumon to Sakuradamon-gate.

There is no signal in this one course, nor will it cross the roadway.

It is also a feature of this course that famous spots such as Sakuradamon-gate, Nijuubashi, National Theater and The Diet Building are around.

Starting point of the Imperial Palace running

“Sakuradamon” “bamboo bridge” “Hanzomon” is popular as a starting point.

· Sakurada-mon-gate

There is a third exit of Sakuradamon Subway Station on the Yurakucho Line outside the gate. Inside the gate there is a clock tower and a toilet. there are people who run immediately after leaving the subway, and people who prepare at the square in front of the clock tower, and so on.

· Takebashi

Tozai line Takebashi Station Exit 2 Square in front of Wakeno-kiyomaro-statue and a square in front of the toilet at 1a exit. Both are in the course.

· Hanzomon

Chidoriguchi-park, a 3-4 minute walk from the Hanzomon line Hanzomon subway station. It is convenient because there are “runner’s stations” around. There are downhill immediately after you start running.

Toilet and public drinking fountain

The public drinking fountain in the course is near the clock tower of sakurada-mon-gate, in front of Wada Kuramon, square before Wakeno-kiyomaro-statue, Chidorigafuchi-park.

The toilet in the course is inside the sakurada-mon-gate, in front of Wada Kuramon, in front of Takebashi station 1 a 1, in Chidorigafuchi-park 4 places.

Although it is outside the course, Wadakura Fountain Park and Nanko rest house also have clean toilets. (These are located on the outside adjacent to Uchihigori Street)

Access

·Station located in the running course

· Exit No. 1 and No. 3 at Sakuradamon Subway Station on Yurakucho Line. There is a coin locker and a toilet in the station premises.

· Exit 1a and 2 of Takebashi station on the Tozai line Tozai line. There is a toilet in the station premises, but there is no locker.

·Station outside the running course

· Subway: Hanzomon station, Hibiya station, Kasumigaseki station, Nijubashi-mae station, Otemachi station, Kudanshita station

· JR: Tokyo Station, Yurakucho Station

Manners of running

Inari-yu running

· run on the left side

Let’s try to run on the left side of the sidewalk. If you open the road on the right for a runner faster than yourself it will be a prevention of contact accidents.

· Traveling in one row

when you run with two people in a place where the running course is narrow, let’s try to run in a line.

· Counterclockwise, let’s refrain from reverse running

Just like on track track competitions, counterclockwise is the mainstream in the Imperial Palace

Running station

When going to the Imperial Palace Running on jogging wear It is courage to take a train with short pants. You also have resistance to get on the train with you sweating after you finish running. For such a case, there is a convenient presence that allows you to change clothes, showers and baggage, is called “running station”.

In addition, there is a sports gym around the Imperial Palace, a public bath facility around the Imperial Palace, but there are also veteran runners substituting for toilets at the stations and coin lockers.

Details will be explained in another section.

5 gyms of public facilities selected for quality that can be used by non-members

It is not easy to find low prices and non-members gym. So, I will introduce places where you can use as a gym and have high quality.I am writing a gym that is fully satisfying at public facilities in this blog.

The gym which can be used on a daily basis is not quite

There are many gyms of membership system, but there are not many gyms of private companies that can be generally used by non-members.
“It costs tens of thousands of yen per month though we can not go even once a week”
“I want to go with friends and lovers, but I have not registered in the same facility”
etc…

In such a case, how about using public facilities such as the citizen gymnasium?
You can use it even if you are not a citizen, plenty of machines.
In addition, there is a sense of cleanliness, location is also good, I will introduce a recommended training 5 gym.

5 recommended gyms in Tokyo available for non-members

  1. Sumida Sougou Taikukan in sumida ward
  2. Minatoku Sports Center in minato ward
  3. Toshima Ward Ikebukuro Sports Center in toshima ward
  4. Komazawa Olinpic Park Training Room in setagaya ward
  5. Chiyoda sports center in chiyoda ward

Sumida Sougou Taikukan in sumida ward

Sumida Sougou Taikukan

It is very recommended gym for me because it is very clean and wide.
Since you do not need to register as a member, anyone can use the gym if pay 550 yen. Moreover there is a shower complete with shampoo and body soap, as well as jacuzzi. Also easy access from Kinshicho station, and there are plenty of restaurants around this gym. If you live near Kinshicho, and you want to do a workout, you should absolutely use this gym.

Minatoku Sports Center in minato ward

minatoku sports centar

Minatoku Sports is about 5 minutes walk from JR Tamachi station.
It is a facility where anyone can feel free and enjoyable exercise.
As always there are instructors there, so even those who do not know how to train or how to train can be used with confidence.
We have 86 training machines and more than 70 lessons per week, so you can use according to purpose and fitness.

Toshima Ward Ikebukuro Sports Center in toshima ward

Toshima Ward Ikebukuro Sports Center
Toshima ward Ikebukuro sports center

It is a gym on the 9th floor of a building about 5 minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro station. It is 400 yen in 2 hours and it is very cheap and facilities are substantial. However, because the popularity is very high, the locker room is crowded at the weekend. You can look over Ikebukuro buildings while training.
Since the reception is on the 9th floor and the gym is on the 10th floor, you can change clothes in the locker room and go upstairs.
When I visited there was quite a locker room crowded and 2 hours had passed because of that the extra fee was paid.

Komazawa Olinpic Park Training Room in setagaya ward

Komazawa Olinpic Park Training Room
Komazawa Olinpic Park Training Room

This facility can use the gym for 2 hours at 450 yen. There is no troublesome procedure such as membership registration, of course.
Because it is in Komazawa park as well as Jim, we can run running course in park. In addition to that, we may open ground for the athletics stadium in general and we can also run.
Therefore it can be said that it is a very friendly facility for runners.
The park is about 15 minutes on foot from the station, green is more pleasant environment.

Chiyoda sports center in chiyoda ward

chiyoda sports center
Chiyoda sports center

The nearest station is Tokyo, Kanda, Otemachi and a gym in the very business area. Perhaps it is a public gym in the city center most in Japan.
It is recommended because there is no need for membership registration and no time limit.

How was it?
Even if it is not a membership gym, there is a sense of cleanliness, there are surprising training centers rich in machines!
Of course, if you go regularly, I think that membership system is better, but these gyms may be perfect if you just need to exercise occasionally.

Basic manners of the Imperial Ranner

The area around the Imperial Palace is a very popular running area, so some people may be densely populated depending on the location.
For that reason, in 2010 “the liaison support facilities liaison meeting around the Imperial Palace” announced 10 basic manners to safely run the Imperial Palace.
I translated it into English below, so please refer to the runners who run the Imperial Palace.

To the runners who love the Imperial Palace.
To the loved runners.

Basic manners of the Imperial Ranner

The declaration of the Imperial Runner Manor 10

The area around the Imperial Palace is an oasis in the center of the city, one of Japan’s best sights.
That is why it is desirable to have an environment where all visitors can use it safely, securely and comfortably.

We “the liaison support facilities etc. liaison meeting around the Imperial Palace”

In order to be able to enjoy the Imperial Palace around each other while having a thoughtful heart,
We propose “declaration of the Imperial Runner Manner 10”, and we will execute it preferentially.

“the liaison support facilities liaison meeting around the Imperial Palace” Approval

Part 1.  Let us run on the left side

As a rule the Imperial Palace Runner will endeavor to run on the left side of the sidewalk.
Of course, I will run with sufficient care so that there is no contact with other users on the spot.

Part 2. Let’s avoid overtake the narrow spots in a row.

In front of the main gate, Chidorigafuchi intersection and where the sidewalks such as Kaidawabashi crossroads are getting narrower, let’s run in a line and stop overtaking and save speed and run.

Part3. Let’s run Counter-clockwise as much as possible

Like the Olympic track track, Counter – clockwise is the mainstream of the Imperial Palace.
Let’s try not to make Clockwise especially during congestion.

Part 4. When crowded do not stick to your time, always try to have a margin.

Let’s run with a margin so that once you feel danger, if you feel dangerous, do not stick to the time during a crowded time
Try to avoid accidents such as contact and collision.
(from 6 pm to 9 pm on weekdays, at the running event on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays) .

Part.5 Let’s give a greeting when overtaking.

When you overtake someone say “I’m going from the right”, if you overtake, say “Thank you.”

Part 6. When you run in a group do not spread and let’s not be a large group.

Running spreading horizontally in groups and groups will cause inconvenience for other users.
Let ‘s try not to spread, and try to separate as many small groups as possible.

Part 7. During cooldown, let’s not prevent sidewalks by group standing or walking

After you have finished running, talking in groups or walking will cause annoyance to other users.
Try not to disturb the flow lines of other users.

Part 8. Let’s refrain from the volume of the music player

In the case of using music players, in order to avoid accidents such as contact with other users,
Minimize the volume of your music player so that you can hear ambient sounds and ensure safety.

Part 9. Let your garbage take home yourself

Be sure to take home the garbage that comes out with plastic bottles and snacks.
Let’s keep the environment around the Imperial Palace as the oasis in the center of Tokyo.

Part 10. Let’s run with compassionate heart at all times

The Imperial Palace is the former Edo Castle, a tourist spot symbolizing Japan.
Let each other have a thoughtful heart so that visitors from all over the world can enjoy it comfortably.
